In the industry, we measure the weight of fabric in grams per metre squared. This is denoted as g/m2 or sometimes gsm. Similar to paper.

Ringspun cotton is a method of producing a softer, tighter weave in a T-shirt.

Combing is a method of removing impurities from the cotton fibre to also improve the quality and hand feel.

Organic cotton is grown free of pesticides and harmful chemicals, rotating crops and ensuring soil quality is maintained for generations. It produces higher quality cotton. It is much better for the environment, but sadly less than 3% of cotton used in T-shirts is grown organically.

BJUM's T-shirt supplies carry various ethical and environmental criteria with certificates available on request. Unlike some printers, we learn an incredible amount of information about the supplies used. Examples of these include OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (a chemical safety certification), Fair Wear Foundation Certified (the manufacturer is a member of the Fear Wear Foundation for factory worker's rights and fair working conditions), REACH compliance (a European standard for chemical safety), PETA-Approved Vegan (approved free of animal products and by PETA), and many more. If you would like more information about any of these credentials, please feel free to ask for clarification and also copies of the relevant certifications or evidence.
